Our laboratory is dedicated to advancing research initiatives that explore the potential of the arts to foster health and wellbeing. Grounded in a commitment to advancing patient-centered care and fostering functional change, our research agenda centers around three primary objectives.
First, we conduct foundational research into the underlying mechanisms of cognitive, emotional and physiological change driven by engagement in the arts. By doing so, we aim to lay the groundwork for developing targeted interventions.
Second, we seek to develop meaningful arts interventions to facilitate functional change and enhance holistic well-being. Our interventions are tailored to address specific functional goals, ranging from enhancing motor skills and cognitive function to promoting emotional regulation and social engagement.
Last, we commit to robust evaluation of the therapeutic effectiveness and efficacy of arts interventions. We seek to understand whether and how the arts interventions produce functional outcomes in a clinical setting.
In summary, our research agenda is driven by a shared commitment to understanding the transformative potential of the arts to facilitate functional change and promote health. Through our interdisciplinary approach and collaborative partnerships, we aspire to not only advance the frontiers of scientific knowledge but also to catalyze positive change in healthcare delivery paradigms, fostering a more inclusive, patient-centered approach to healing and wellness.
