Our Mission
Our mission is to pioneer applications of the arts and creative arts therapies in the medical setting. We aim to advance patient-centered outcomes by exploring diverse therapeutic applications of the arts on the broad spectrum of human health. Our lab has three main aims:
- Perform foundational and translational research in human perception of the arts.
- Apply research outcomes into therapeutic applications.
- Determine the impact of creative arts interventions on mental, physiological, and neurological health.
Welcome to our Arts
in Health Research Lab,
where we conduct research at the intersection of creativity and healthcare. Our lab is dedicated to pioneering innovative approaches that harness the transformative power of the arts within the medical realm. We explore how artistic expressions can shape therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation strategies to improve health.
We are driven by a passion for patient well-being grounded in interdisciplinary collaboration among music therapists, art therapists, musicians, artists, and health care professionals. We celebrate the diversity of artistic expressions and their profound impact on health outcomes. Through rigorous studies, we seek to illuminate the sustained benefits of incorporating music and art into medical practices and strive to disseminate our findings to health care practitioners, educators, and the broader community.
